MONTEREY FIRE WAS DISPATCHED TO THE AREA OF THE MONTEREY/NEW MARLBOROUGH TOWN LINE ON RIVER ROAD FOR A SINGLE VEHICLE MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION.

TRUCK 172 AND CAR 2 (NIGHT DUTY CHIEF) RESPONDED. THE SINGLE OCCUPANT WAS OUT OF THE VEHICLE UPON ARRIVAL. CREWS STABILIZED THE SCENE, PROVIDED MEDICAL CARE, AND REMOVED THE DAMAGED GUARDRAIL FROM THE VEHICLE FOR THE TOW COMPANY. SOUTHERN BERKSHIRE AMBULANCE AND MONTEREY POLICE DEPARTMENT ALSO RESPONDED.

CHIMNEY FIRE - RESERVIOR ROAD, OTIS - 01/24/2021

MONTEREY FIRE WAS DISPATCHED UNDER MUTUAL AID TO THE TOWN OF OTIS FOR A CHIMNEY FIRE.

TRUCK 172 RESPONDED WITH 6 FIREFIGHTERS AND ASSISTED OTIS WITH GAINING ACCESS TO A CHIMNEY. ICE BUILDUP AND A STEEP PITCHED ROOF MADE ACCESS TO THE CHIMNEY DIFFICULT BY GROUND LADDERS. THE BLOCKAGE WAS REMOVED USING THE CHAINS AND EXTINGUISHED WITHOUT FURTHER SPREAD.

STRUCTURE FIRE - BERKSHIRE HEIGHTS, GREAT BARRINGTON - 12/29/2020

MONTEREY FIRE RESPONDED MUTUAL AID TO 26 BERKSHIRE HEIGHTS IN GREAT BARRINGTON FOR A WORKING STRUCTURE FIRE.

TRUCK 172 RESPONDED AS THE RAPID INTERVENTION TEAM (RIT) ON THE FIRST ALARM ASSIGNMENT. TRUCK 172 ARRIVED AS THE FIRST DUE AERIAL LADDER AND WAS ALSO UTILIZED FOR VENTILATION AND FIRE EXTINGUISHMENT.

6 MONTEREY FIREFIGHTERS RESPONDED. CREWS RETURNED TO TOWN BY 15:30 IN THE AFTERNOON.

STRUCTURE FIRE - JACOBS PILLOW, BECKET - 11/17/20

MONTEREY FIRE WAS DISPATCHED UNDER MUTUAL AID TO THE TOWN OF BECKET FOR A STRUCTURE FIRE.

TRUCK 172, ENGINE 177, AND RESCUE 179 RESPONDED WITH 13 FIREFIGHTERS. UPON ARRIVAL, CREWS ENCOUNTERED A FULL INVOLVED STUDIO BUILDING. BECKET FIRE DEPARTMENT AND MULTIPLE OTHER MUTUAL AID ARE ON THE SCENE AS WELL. TRUCK 172 WAS DIRECTED TO DEPLOY THE AERIAL FOR DEFENSIVE FIREFIGHTING OPERATIONS.

CREWS REMAINED ON SCENE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME TO ASSIST WITH OVERHAUL.

STRUCTURE FIRE - NORTON ROAD EXTENSION, OTIS - 10/10/20

MONTEREY FIRE WAS DISPATCHED UNDER MUTUAL AID TO THE TOWN OF OTIS FOR A STRUCTURE FIRE. TRUCK 172, ENGINE 177, RESCUE 175 RESPONDED WITH 9 MONTEREY FIREFIGHTERS.

UPON ARRIVAL, CREWS FOUND FIRE UNDERNEATH THE FLOOR BOARDS EXTENDING INTO THE WALLS OF THE FIRST FLOOR. CREWS FROM OTIS, MONTEREY, SANDISFIELD, BECKET, AND TOLLAND MADE A QUICK KNOCKDOWN OF THE FIRE AND CONDUCTED EXTENSIVE OVERHAUL OF THE BUILDING. THE FIRE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION BY THE OTIS FIRE DEPARTMENT.

MOTOR VEHICLE FIRE - BEARTOWN MOUNTAIN ROAD - 06/02/2020

MONTEREY FIRE WAS DISPATCHED TO A REMOTE AREA ALONG BEARTOWN MOUNTAIN ROAD FOR A REPORTED MOTOR VEHICLE FIRE.

TRUCK 172, ENGINE 177, AND RESCUE 179 RESPONDED WITH 10 FIREFIGHTERS. UPON ARRIVAL, CREWS FOUND A PICKUP TRUCK WITH HEAVY INVOLVEMENT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. TRUCK 172 QUICKLY DEPLOYED A 1 3/4” ATTACK LINE AND KNOCKED DOWN THE REMAINDER OF THE FIRE. ENGINE 177 PROVIDED EXTRA WATER SUPPLY AND MANPOWER FOR OVERHAUL.

TRUCK 172 AND ENGINE 177 WERE DISPATCHED UNDER AUTOMATIC MUTUAL AID TO THE TOWN OF NEW MARLBOROUGH FOR A REPORTED STRUCTURE FIRE. THE LOCATION OF THE FIRE WAS DOWN A SMALL DIRT ROAD ALONG LAKE BUEL.

UPON ARRIVAL, CREWS FOUND A FULLY INVOLVED LAKEHOUSE WITH EXTENSION TO MULTIPLE VEHICLES IN THE DRIVEWAY. TRUCK 172 WAS DIRECTED TO THE FIRE SCENE TO PERFORM EXTERIOR ATTACK OPERATIONS. ENGINE 177 PROVIDED WATER SUPPLY. MULTIPLE OTHER DEPARTMENTS RESPONDED WITH TANKERS.

11 MONTEREY FIREFIGHTERS RESPONDED TO THE FIRE. ALL APPARATUS RETURNED IN SERVICE APPROXIMATELY 5 HOURS LATER.

STRUCTURE FIRE - WEST STREET, SANDISFIELD - 05/06/2020

MONTEREY TRUCK 172 AND ENGINE 177 WERE REQUESTED UNDER AUTOMATIC MUTUAL AID TO WEST STREET IN SANDISFIELD FOR A REPORTED STRUCTURE FIRE.

DEPUTY CHIEF CHRIS TRYON ARRIVED FIRST DUE AND REPORTED A WORKING FIRE IN THE ATTIC SPACE NEXT TO THE CHIMNEY. SANDISFIELD ENGINE 1 ARRIVED AND PULLED AN ATTACK LINE TO THE ATTIC. TRUCK 172 ARRIVED SHORTLY AFTER; DEPLOYING GROUND LADDERS AND PERFORMING VERTICAL VENTILATION TO RELIEVE THE HEAT AND SMOKE CONDITION THROUGHOUT THE L-SHAPED ATTIC. THE FIRE WAS QUICKLY KNOCKED DOWN AND DAMAGE WAS CONFINED.

STRUCTURE FIRE - 24 CHERRY HILL ROAD, STOCKBRIDGE - 04/17/2020

MONTEREY TRUCK 172 WAS DISPATCHED MUTUAL AID TO THE TOWN OF STOCKBRIDGE FOR A WORKING FIRE IN A MULTI-STORY MANSION STYLE BUILDING. T172 ARRIVED AS THE FIRST DUE TRUCK COMPANY AND DEPLOYED THE AERIAL TO PROVIDE AN EXTERIOR ATTACK ON THE FULLY INVOLVED PART OF THE BUILDING.

ENGINE 177 WAS REQUESTED SHORTLY AFTER TO THE SCENE FOR ADDITIONAL WATER SUPPLY. MULTIPLE OTHER AREA DEPARTMENTS RESPONDED.

13 MONTEREY FIREFIGHTERS RESPONDED TO THE FIRE. TRUCK 172 RETURNED TO QUARTERS AT APPROXIMATELY 01:30 THE NEXT MORNING.

STRUCTURE FIRE - 58 BROOKSIDE ROAD, GREAT BARRINGTON - 03/31/2020

MONTEREY ENGINE 177 WAS REQUESTED MUTUAL AID TO THE TOWN OF GREAT BARRINGTON FOR A WORKING STRUCTURE FIRE. THE AREA HAD LIMITED WATER SUPPLY SOURCES AVAILABLE.

GREAT BARRINGTON FIRE DEPARTMENT ALONG WITH MULTIPLE OTHER AREA DEPARTMENTS RESPONDED AND KNOCKED THE FIRE DOWN, PREVENTING FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE HOUSE.

7 MONTEREY FIREFIGHTERS RESPONDED TO THE FIRE. ENGINE 177 RETURNED IN SERVICE APPROXIMATELY 2 HOURS LATER.

BRUSH FIRE - NEW MARLBOROUGH RD - 3/18/20

At approximately 1:22 PM, Monterey Fire was dispatched to the above area for an Out of Control Brush Fire. The 911 caller reported the fire was rapidly spreading toward the woods and toward buildings including a barn. Great Barrington Fire Department was immediately requested in the event both Structural and Brush firefighting was needed.

Upon arrival of Brush 174, crews made quick work containing the fire to the field behind the barn. There was no extension to the barn, woods, or any other nearby properties. The cause of the fire was deemed to be a burn pile that got out of control. Crews returned in service by 3:30 PM.

CHIMNEY FIRE - 237 BEARTOWN MOUNTAIN ROAD - 01/03/2020

AT APPROXIMATELY 12:50 PM, MONTEREY FIRE WAS DISPATCHED TO THE ABOVE ADDRESS FOR A CHIMNEY FIRE. REPORTED BY 911 CALLER TO BE 7-8’ FLAMES COMING OUT OF THE CHIMNEY. THE CALL WAS MADE BY TREE WORKERS PASSING BY IN THE AREA WHO NOTICED THE FLAMES. TRUCK 172, ENGINE 177, RESCUE 179 RESPONDED.

UPON ARRIVAL OF TRUCK 172, CREWS PROCEEDED TO THE ROOF TO INVESTIGATE THE CHIMNEY. ENGINE 177’S CREW WAS SENT TO EACH FLOOR OF THE HOUSE TO ENSURE THERE WAS NO EXTENSION BEYOND THE CHIMNEY. NO EXTENSION WAS FOUND BUT THE CHIMNEY WAS DEEMED UNUSABLE UNIT CLEANED. UNITS RETURNED IN SERVICE WITHOUT DELAY.

STRUCTURE FIRE - 8 DOWD ROAD - 5/27/19

At approximately 12:32 on Monday afternoon, Monterey Fire was dispatched to an remote address on Dowd Road for a Structure Fire.

Truck 172 arrived first due; crews deployed a 1 3/4” hose line and made a aggressive interior attack of a well-involved basement fire.

Mutual Aid on the First Alarm brought crews from Great Barrington Fire DepartmentOtis Volunteer Fire Dept, New Marlborough Fire Department, and Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad, Inc.

The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical in nature.

All units returned in service by 16:00

STRUCTURE FIRE - MUTUAL AID TO NEW MARLBOROUGH - 3/15/19

Monterey Truck 172, Engine 177, and Rescue 5 responded mutual aid to New Marlborough for a Structure Fire. Multiple other departments also assisted.

T172 made a set and crews began working on the exposure building; conducting primary and secondary searches and assisting in extinguishment of the fire.

Engine 7 arrived and was used for water supply.

STRUCTURE FIRE - MUTUAL AID TO OTIS - 12/22/18

Monterey Truck 172 and Engine 177 responded mutual aid to Otis for a Chimney Fire with extension.

Truck 172 arrived just behind Otis’ first due engine and found heavy fire in the first floor. Crews assisted with fire attack and overhaul. Fire believed to have started from a wood stove chimney on the first floor. Crews returned in service by 22:00.
